RODRIGO CAMPOS
WINNER OF THE 2013 DAMUSICA BRASILEIRA AWARD
Composer, singer and instrumentalist, Rodrigo Campos, started playing the cavaquinho and percussion in the samba circles of São Mateus, on the outskirts of the city of São Paulo, where he grew up. He started composing at the age of twelve.
He released 4 solo albums: 9 Sambas (2019); Conversas com Toshiro (2015); Bahia Fantástica (2012) and São Mateus não é um lugar assim tão longe (2009). In 2020, he started the launch of a series of double singles, debuts with Meu samba quer se dissolver, produced and recorded by himself, because of the social isolation.
In addition to his solo work, Rodrigo collaborates as a composer, arranger and instrumentalist, with several artists of his generation, as well as with legends of Brazilian music: Criolo (Duas de Cinco, 2014), Juçara Marçal (Encarnado - 2014), Vicente Barreto (Cambaco - 2015), Tom Zé (Pour Elis - 2014, with the participation of Milton Nascimento), Elza Soares (The Woman at the End of the World and God is Woman), Emicida, among others. He is also a member of Passo Torto, a project developed in collaboration with the composers Kiko Dinucci and Romulo Fróes and the bass player Marcelo Cabral, who already has three albums released.
